Singin' the blues and celebrating Ottawa's finest

This Friday, we will be chatting with Jon Bartlett (Kelp Records) who is the mastermind behind the first annual MEGAphono Showcase Festival. Recognizing that Ottawa is a hotbed of musical talent with a unique culture, this 3-day event will showcase local and national talent and feature panel discussions with industry experts. We are very pumped for this. Jon will fill us in on all the details.

But first, we're kicking off the show with some deep southern blues as interpreted by a cool Canadian: Michael Jerome Browne. A three-time Juno nominee, considered to be a walking encyclopedia of the music of the Deep South, Michael will be heating up Irene's on Wednesday, January 21. His new album, Sliding Delta, is a tribute to the artists who first ignited his passion for their sound, eg, Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Charlie Patton and others.
