Red Ride Tour in Ottawa

The Red Ride Tour is a collective of Aboriginal musicians whose goal is to showcase the diverse talent of artists across North America in what is described as, an eclectic community of culture. The 5th annual Red Ride Tour is rolling into Ottawa on Wednesday, June 3rd at Club Saw!

We will be discussing the story behind this showcase with founding member, Kristi Lane Sinclair. Kristi, a Haida/Cree singer-songwriter, is also launching her 3rd solo album, Dark Matter (produced by multi-award winning Mohawk artist Derek Miller).

Kick off this summer weekend with Autumn Still

Autumn Still breezed into the music scene in 2014 with the release of their self-titled debut EP, appearing on Earshot charts across Canada. With a fresh perspective on alternative pop, Autumn Still draws inspiration from a vast array of influences such as new wave icons the Talking Heads and Canadian indie-rockers The New Pornographers. They are in Ottawa at Pressed Cafe on Wednesday, May 27.

Also on queue for you today:
Jon and Jen: We're happy to welcome Jon and Jen back to Ottawa. Talented artists by their own rights, together they exude warmth, joy and an infectious love of music. They perform at Raw Sugar tonight (Friday, May 22).

Romi Mayes: The Winnipeg songwriter has released her sixth full-length album, Devil On Both Shoulders. Her previous albums have garnered numerous Canadian Music Awards and a JUNO Award nomination. She is in Ottawa at Irene's tomorrow night (Saturday, May 23).

And don't forget Lindsay Ferguson's CD release event with Brock Zeman at the Blacksheep Inn tomorrow night!

A time warp, Ottawa style

On this week's program, we will be looking at - or rather, listening to - both a seasoned artist, and a new band emerging from the fount of Ottawa's bountiful indie scene. I couldn't have planned it better if I tried. We have experience and street cred on the one hand and newbies, unbound and brazen on the other - nearly two decades between them.

Chris Page: We know him and love him either on his own or fronting seminal Ottawa indie-punk bands The Stand GT and Camp Radio. It's hard to believe Chris has been crushing our ears with his signature crunchy guitar for 25 years. Even unplugged, Chris has engaged us with introspective, politico-punk faux-folk mantras all this time. His brand new album Volume vs Voice is more along that style. He is back home in Ottawa at Raw Sugar this Saturday.

In the 2nd half of the program, we are welcoming Destroy Clocks (there's irony in there somewhere). Also from Ottawa, they are a self-described psych-rock, hardcore jazz, electro ensemble. They are excited to share with us their debut album, Reanimalize ahead of their show at Avant Garde bar Friday night.
