2013-03-22: Hunter Valentine
Four great Canadian femmes who deserve your attention. With a third album under their belt, titled "Collide & Conquer", the ladies caused plenty of mayhem when they came to the studio to talk to us. I had a blast with them!

Armed with a new disc, Northern Shore, The Skydiggers, a band whose career spans well over 20 years continues to ooze with the creativity that has kept them going all this time. Interview with award winning punks, Fucked Up
During Juno weekend, I had the opportunity to meet and interview Mustard Gas aka Sandy of Fucked Up! She's a classy young lady with DIY punk ethics running through her veins. It was a honour to chat with her. Listen up below:
2012-04-20: Darrelle London
Toronto-based piano-pop songstress has released a new disc, Eat A Peach. Dynamic and powerful while innately personal, it was produced by Canadian legend Chantal Kreviazuk. We spoke with Darrelle just before her Ottawa performance on April 20. Click below to hear the interview.
2012-13-04: Little Scream
AKA Laural Sprengelmeyer, from Montreal (via Iowa), an avid songstress who uses guitar, violin and keyboard (not to mention paintbrush to canvas) for artistic expression. Her debut full length album, The Golden Record was co-produced by Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry (originally from Ottawa). Click below to hear the interview.
Juno Awards - Ottawa March 31-April 1st
Shaun Majumder with a rockin' mullet
I enjoyed a number of Juno Awards events in Ottawa on the weekend of March 31-April 1st. I spoke with Simple Plan who received a Juno Humanitarian Award (see below).
I also had a few giggles with Shaun Majumder of This Hour Has 22 Minutes as he was trying to do a station I.D. for CHUO. I did not touch his mullet and Hey Rosetta! is his favorite Canadian band. Hear it for your yourself.

2012-31-03: Simple Plan receive Humanitarian Award
Montréal's Simple Plan, were the recipients of the 2012 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award at this year's Junos. They are the youngest artists ever to receive this award. The Simple Plan Foundation has donated more than $750,000 to youth-focused charities since 2005 and that amount is quickly reaching the $1M mark. I spoke briefly with guitarist, Sébastien Lefebvre about the award. Click below to hear what he had to say.
2012-03-16: Peter Elkas
Joining us in studio for CHUO Funding Drive, Peter Elkas. Pete's latest album Repeat Offender was released on Joel Plaskett's New Scotland Records. Since its release, the album has received acclaim across the country. He also told us about how he recently got to meet and sing with his hero, Bruce Springsteen.
2012-03-09: Paper Beat Scissors
Name dropping: Mike Feuerstack, Jeremy Gara, Rose Cousins, Tanya Davis, Pietro Amato, Sebastian Chow, Kyle Cunjak, Rich Aucoin, Leif Vollebekk... Imagine if these talented artists (and many more) all got together to work on a project. Well, it has happened! In what is likely the furthest thing from a "solo" album, Tim Crabtree has released an amazing self-titled, debut album under the moniker, Paper Beat Scissors. Evidently, many Canadian musicians agree that Paper Beat Scissors was a worthwhile effort and deserving of your attention. Tim Crabtree joined me in studio to talk about it. Click below to hear the interview.
2012-03-02: The Barr Brothers
The Barr Brothers. If you have your ear to the ground, you will have heard rumblings about this band by now. Montreal-based, (by way of Providence, RI) they are indeed raising the bar(r) in blues-based, multi-instrumental indie music rhythms. Them's are alot of words to describe their unique sound. Click below to listen.
2012-03-02: Lynne Hanson
How about some "porch music and a little Texas red dirt" to help you get your weekend started? That's is how Lynne Hanson describes her sound. I can tell you that with her mellifluous voice, she could singlehandedly melt all the snow in them' thar' hills ! But she won't, because it's Winterlude time, after all. It's high time we have her back in the studio to sing us a few tunes! Click below to hear the interview.
