Hop The Fence on CHUO 89.1 FM in Ottawa is a public affairs program on Ottawa community radio based out of the University of Ottawa. I feature interviews with Canadian independent musicians of all genres. Many Juno nominees have appeared on Hop The Fence including Kheaven Brereton aka K-OS, Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew and Andrew Whiteman, Buck 65, Benjamin Kowalewicz of Billy Talent, Arcade Fire’s Jeremy Gara, Torquil Campbell of Stars, The Tea Party’s Jeff Burrows, Amanda Rheaume, Wintersleep, The Pack a.d., Mudhoney, Kathryn Calder, Ox, Shout Out Out Out Out, and more. Dozens of upcoming artists have been profiled on the weekly program. The program always features Ottawa talent and promotes local events.

Listen every Friday at 5 p.m. in Ottawa at 89.1 FM or listen on-line at www.chuo.fm

I love my home town: Ottawa is home to more than just a bunch of stuffy bureaucrats! We’ve got a thriving music scene. Supported by talented producers, top notch studios, a couple of great local record labels, and, of course, a network of great clubs, the Ottawa scene is surprisingly diverse - ranging from alt-country, lo-fi pop, math rock, prog rock to punk and ska. Indie artists from across the country have stopped by our many small clubs to witness the city’s transformation after the lights go out on the Hill and civil servants scurry back to their humble abodes.
