Gotta love the nation's capital during the summer months!  There are enough live music parties and festivals in town to appeal to a wide variety of palates.  We have two guests on this week's program and we'll be spinning lots of festive tunes over the course of the hour!

Pistol George Warren:  An 8-piece party band out of Sudbury.  Following up their first few LPs and EPs, they have just released Oceapur 9. Not sure what that actually means, but they've dropped hints that it's about some sort of interstellar espionage.  All you really need to know is that they are a party band! They're coming to Ottawa to show us a good time at The Rainbow Bistro on Wednesday, July 22.

The Jivewires:  Recurring guests on HTF, the Jivewires are a 7-piece horn-driven band offering up a good swing-jiving party. With horns and dancing shoes all polished-up, they are set to dazzle at the RBC Ottawa Bluesfest on Friday at 6 pm on the Claridge Stage!

Hot Snake Handlers:  A new band emerging from the tormented mind of Lefty McRighty. The Hot Snake Handlers offer up a high octane mix of classic country, rockabilly and blues.  I saw their first gig a few months back and they really heated up the stage.  Don't miss them at House of Targ tonight.

The Acorn:  A project led by Ottawa's Rolf Klausener since 2002. The Acorn has sprouted and taken root in the nation's capital since then amassing 2 Polaris Music Prize nominations and a handful of dark-electro-soul recordings.  With the release of Vieux Loup, The Acorn are back home tonight for a BBQ and a gig at House of Common (11b Fairmont Ave).
