This week on Hop The Fence, we are presenting some of Canada's best Alt-Country femme fatales. It just worked out that way. These women cannot be pigeon-holed in the Country category, but their rock roots do tend to get a little twangy and misty-eyed. It won't matter what type of music you think you prefer, these songstresses will most definitely appeal to you, my faithful listeners! (And to you too, my newby listeners!)
LINDI ORTEGA: She will be coming to the NAC 2 nights next weekend, Nov. 28 and 29 with a critically acclaimed new album in hand, Tin Star. She'll make your heart melt with her sweet lyrics and tender vocals (think Neko Case in cowboy boots).. (hmm well ok, that wasn't much of a stretch!). She will be calling us in studio from Austin, TX where she's been wowing the Southerners for a long while.
LADIES OF THE CANYON: These great Canadian ladies have honed an edgier sound on their new disc, Diamond Heart. They are appearing at Maverick's on Thursday night. The rest of their tour will have them opening for Matt Mays and The Barenaked Ladies across Canada. We look forward to chatting them up on-air later today.
