Buck 65: AKA Rich Terfry (and a variety of other stage names too). Buck/Rich is a self-taught turntablist/MC/ producer and broadcaster. His career has spanned well over 20 years now. He has spearheaded what you might call alternative, underground, east-coast, baseball Hip Hop in Canada – all the while incorporating blues, country and even humour in his creative ramblings. I’m a big fan. That is all. He wears his heart on his sleeve on his latest disc, Forever Love. See him at the NAC next Saturday, November 22nd.
High Ends: Solo project from Yukon Blonde singer/songwriter, Jeffrey Innes. The new album, Super Class, is described as “80’s-inspired, psychedelic, synth-soaked jams”. Sounds like a party! And he’s bringing it to Mavericks on Wednesday, November 19.
Lynne Hanson: We’re always happy to have Lynne with us on CHUO. With Lynn Miles in the producer's chair, her latest disc, River of Sand, sees her kicking things up many notches. Her sobriety and maturity are beautiful to behold. She appears at the NAC this Friday, November 14.
Be sure to join us Friday at 5 pm on CHUO fm in Ottawa at 89.1 on your FM dial or listen live on-line.
Also going on this weekend is WuFest in celebration of my Ming Wu's photography of Ottawa's live music scene (Ming often covers for me on HTF when my day job takes me out of town). It's happening at the Blacksheep Inn tonight and tomorrow featuring Aroara, Moonfruits, Little Scream, Giant Hand and Pony Girl. Check-it out!
